They call him “Gollum” because he’s not good looking, he says. He’s the one who tell us the Story of Frank and Nina – except he has to write it on the walls for he doesn’t speak. Frank stopped existing a couple of years ago, but he sells homework outside of schools for a living, planning to take a train and leave as soon as he’s 18. Frank gives his take on reality, and he’s so irresistible we buy it. Then he meets Nina. Nina is a secret photographer, she’s 16, and ambitious, but listening to adults led her to become a baby mom with a jerk husband. So she realized that, in order be free, she must study. She hires Frank to tutor her to take her diploma. But studying, with a husband like hers, is dangerous stuff. Despite the troubles they do, and the more they study, the more they get to know each other and they almost become a family, at least until reality catches up with them. But “reality is a state of mind.” says Frank, so maybe they will succeed in writing their own story just the way they want.
