Claudio, 17 years old, has a simple ambition: he wants to be a mechanic. But his father wants something different for him. The conflict between them is unbearable and violent. Stefano, age 35, has a garage at the seashore. Since he needs an apprentice, he convinces Claudio’s father to send him the boy to try him out. Stefano hangs around the night car races and realises immediately that Claudio has a real talent for engines. At the night races, Claudio meets Giovanna, a beautiful, restless girl, with ambitions she can’t satisfy, like studying and a better life. She is somehow captured and intrigued by Claudio’s touchy, but sweet personality.
In order to see Giovanna, Claudio neglects his work a little. In trouble because of a big debt involving his work, Stefano sees the relationship between the two as an obstacle to the realisation of his projects. Among these projects is winning a race, dangerous and difficult, but the future of his little company depends on it…
